Our Christmas sale has arrived and even though we will still have nobody in the room on sale day, you are all welcome to the viewing on Wednesday the 15th December between 1 and 7pm. There may be mince pies!! THE SALE IS ON THURSDAY THE 16TH STARTING AT 11AM.
It’s not a big sale – about 600 lots, but it is OUR WINE SALE and at least 100 lots are available for your delectation with something for everybody – fine wines to table wines, fine Champagne to party bubbles, fine ports to cooking port, fine brandies to Christmas cake brandy, single malt and blended whiskies (including a bottle selected by Roberto Gucci with his name on it, entered in the sale by a PA of his), sherry and other exotic brews.
As usual we have a good PICTURES section of about 100 lots, artists include Edwin S. Grigg, Leonard Manasseh, S.R. Brightwell, Olga Roubin, W. Callow, L. Roberts, E.S. Hardy, H. Lavacek, William Frederick Austin, James Stark, George B. Willcock, Hedi Schick, David Shepherd, D. Pitcock, W. Redworth, Arturo Cavalli, F. Saluttie, Samuel Prout, Stephen Kaye, Roy Bedington, etc.
All the SHELVES are lightly covered especially toys, collectables, silver including a heavy Churchill head paperweight, and silver plate. We do have a huge number of stamp lots if that’s your bag. Books include three first editions of Dickens, antiquarian and Hakluyt Society, and records include some good jazz 78s. JEWELLERY includes ‘Canadian Ice’ diamonds. Otherwise we have the usual dinner services, table glass, ornaments, designer lamps, lots of Toby jugs and decorative figures, a Lalique post-war ‘Chat Assis’ cat, and a Chelsea red anchor cream jug painted in puce in the manner of JH O’Neale. COSTUME includes designer clothing and furs.
The FURNITURE includes glamorous items removed from a London home of a foreign royal and items from storage that includes a fantastic pair of modern Venetian chandeliers. We have some great soft furnishings to include a fine modern settee covered in the softest brown leather with matching arm chair, a modern Chesterfield settee in buttoned green leather that’s hardly been sat on, leather-covered revolving desk chairs. Mentioning desks we do have two partners desks one of them large, a pair of modern side cabinets with travertine stone tops, a drinks cabinet with snakeskin style doors and to top off the section, a designer dining table veneered in etched mirror glass by Jacques Grange , one of the most famous French interior designers. It has come all the way from Paris and its photograph can be found on our website.
