Dear Friends,
Oh dear, here we go again! The lock-down means that our November 12 auction cannot take place. It will be held as early as possible in December and I am guessing the 10th but please wait for our next email. The answerphone will give updates too.
I am excited by the sale because we have cleared the property of the deceased estate of a paper conservator. It’s difficult to describe the property, suffice it to say that the men are still there clearing and have been there five days so far.
50 or 60 years of collecting paper gives you an idea, and lots of interest has been discovered including old master drawings, three by Rowlandson, many old maps, a section of Astronomical prints and many with Welsh connections. With the section already at 230 lots and rising, artists include Frank Brangwyn, Anders Leonard Zorn, G F Watts. Pirinazzi, B W Leader, David Roberts, Gilray, Thomas Rowlandson, W Hogarth, Denys G Wells, George Morland, John Gould, Bunbury, Thomas Shelter Boys, Rossini, John Piper, W L Wyllie, Camille Roger, Edward Slocombe, Charles Radcliffe, Charles Wyatt Warren, Derek Fowler, David Cox, C. Wyllis Pryce, G.J. Rowt, George Spencer Watson, Anthony Gross, D. Coot, B. Zoble, Auguste Renoir, B.W. Leader, R. Andrew Smith, Tano di Limene, Revd William Gilpin, Doris Hickson, Stewart Hine, William Crotch, James W. Whittaker, Bernard Dufour, Rudolph Helmut Sauter, Robert Fowler. There are also hundreds of antique prints and engravings in large lots. We have dedicated our space to their display so we plan no furniture in this sale.
The room shelves are full, JEWELLERY has 50 to 70 lots and SILVER about the same. We also have a Holdsworth racing bike in restored order, fishing tackle, ceramics including Zsolnay, clocks and much more .
For Christmas the fashion section includes designer handbags, Hermes scarves and furs. Toys include wonderful model trains and accessories , a Kammer and Reinhardt doll, vintage Action Man and other toys.
BOOKS are few but includes Dr Hook’s Copper-Plates of Wonderful Discoveries by the Micrscope 1745. Also two mobility scooters and about 30 well-made model guns.
The Christmas wine sale scheduled for the 17th December will now be included with this sale.
Keep safe and don’t forget to order the Christmas joint.
Best wishes,
Peter
