I hope you are all rested after a summer holiday; I spent mine behind a mask. Our October sale is nearly ready with cataloguing this week for the auction on the 8TH OCTOBER.
IT’S ONLINE ONLY AND YOU WILL NEED TO BOOK VIEWING SLOTS AS LAST TIME FOR WEDNESDAY THE 7TH OCTOBER BETWEEN 12 NOON AND 7PM. WEARING A MASK IS REQUIRED AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO SANITIZE YOUR HANDS ON ENTRY
It’s a sale worth viewing combining local clearances as well as a large home in Putney and a busy Maida Vale flat owned by a gentleman who was very much involved in the fashion business and the development of the life-like shop window mannequin. He had a lot of pictures including studies of naked males.
In fact there are approximately 120 lots of PICTURES comprising works from the 18th to the 20th centuries, with an emphasis especially on modern art. Artists represented include Cecil Beaton, Anthony Gross, John Martin RBA, Max Rummel(sburg), Leonie Gibbs, Harold Cohen, Harry Brockway, Anthony Page, John McCombs, Alex MacInnes, Harry Rutherford, Ken Moore, Sheila Camera, Frank McKelvey, Patrick Stackhouse, Sagh, V. Emanuelov, Finch Mason, Frank Hider, W. Collins, and many more; also many folders of loose art from the studio of a local artist, John Moore, a collection of photographic art by Simon Cesarini, and a collection of old posters including for The Doors, Time Out magazine (one featuring Jude Law and Matt Damon in ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’), Pavarotti, Nureyev, etc.
SILVER AND PLATE is well represented and includes an impressive Scottish silver ratttail pattern flatware service with noble crest, Edinburgh 1910, approximately 380 ozt, in mahogany canteen, also a Russian salt by Faberge, and a covered tazza by Sazikov.
JEWELLERY and the COLLECTOR shelves includes coins and bank notes, stamps, a wonderful postcard album, other postcards, cigarette cards. From the Maida Vale flat a quantity of theatre bills, wonderful photographs from the Kit Kat Club, many signed, theatre bills and posters from the 1970s, also masonic items.
The SHELVES are full of ceramics and glass including Oriental, modern Moorcroft, an Orrefors Lindstrand bowl, a Schneider dish, and a large collection of geological specimens, some of them large and impressive.. We have a good Regency mantel clock by James Murray of London and a good longcase clock by W Reynolds of Uxbridge, also a Victorian taxidermy display of three roach in a bowed case, and a Leica camera number 194131.
COSTUME includes good luggage and handbags by Louis Vuitton and also Gucci, vintage evening bags, a Burberry raincoat, also good furs and gents’ clothing and shoes, including a Knights Templar costume.
RECORDS include rock and pop, classical and film soundtracks,.and there are plenty of BOOKS. A copy of Silk Stocking Stories 1937 caught my eye!
There are TOYS including Hornby trains and die-cast model vehicles.
FURNITURE includes two pianos, one a baby grand , the other an upright by Bechstein. We have a large number of lots including retro to antique, also white goods.
