Dear Friends,

It’s difficult to know where to start and what to mention first for our sale NEXT WEEK, on the 1st August.

If it’s wines, champagnes, whisky and brandy you want, then we have 80 lots for you and some very tasty items included.

If you are a fashionista, then we have a very important archive of Karl Lagerfeld – original drawings, design copies and studio photographs along with signed books, drawing pads , pens and pencils. It’s a large archive.

And if it’s real FASHION that you seek, we have modern Christian Dior men’s clothing for the slim physique including a distressed black ‘biker’ jacket, a white leather jacket, also an embroidered wedding waistcoat, a linen evening jacket by Karl Lagerfeld, jeans by Dior, Chanel and Helmut Lang, also a Burberry’s lady’s faux fur coat and vintage fashion including Liberty prints, and a blonde mink fur coat. There are fantastic and large gents shoes by Fendi, Gucci, Prada and Yves Saint Laurent and a tan Chloe Paddington handbag.

For LUGGAGE we have fine suitcases by Prada, Fendi, and T. Anthony. To have one suitcase by Goyard of Paris would be a result. We have two sets. How good is that…!

If its music we have a grand piano by Steinway.

If it’s ARMS AND GUNS, we have a great display of swords including a fine 18th century French Alsace Royal manufactory backsword, other swords and good quality model field guns of the Waterloo era.  Also a large selection of tribal spears, axes, swords, shields and a club.

If its BOOKS, well you can’t move in here for fantastic coffee table editions, mainly on fashion, design and art to include Andy Warhol’s Interview Edition 7 on original wheeled trolley, (Noise) 3 by Attik Design, edited by James Sommerviille and Simon Needham , as new, in its original tin cover, and 4 editions of VISIONAIRE , the swankiest fashion and design magazine in the world and we have 4 editions, numbered 18, 21, 23 and 37 each in its original presentation pack. Also, good children’s books including early Enid Blyton.

TOYS includes train sets, a Victorian doll’s pram, games, vintage Gollies, and we have boxes of RECORDS of all tastes.

And we have the normal stuff too.  A fine longcase clock by Thos. Whipp Rochdale and other CLOCKS.  Runs of coloured GLASS. A tall bronze floor standing figure of a semi naked female signed A Moreau, 170 cm and a silvered  carved wooden ‘eagle’ on a pedestal.  A Cartier porcelain dinner service.  Old microscopes. Great ceiling lights. And good modern rugs.

FURNITURE includes an Edwardian three piece suite with bright green covers. A fine pair of Victorian open bookcases above cupboards.  A fine mahogany Pembroke table with a broad satinwood band of inlay. A 16th century carved back-stool.  A large mahogany dining table and 6 chairs on carved cabriole legs.  Period metal-bound trunks. A fine mahogany bookcase expensively made for a particular alcove, etc.

The PICTURES section has over 75 lots and includes works by or attributed to Peter Steenhouwer, Martin Hardie, William Russell Flint, Helen Donnelly, Anthony Gottop, Sir Frank Short, Wilfred E. Billinghame, Wilfred Williams Ball, Frederick George Cotman, Norman Garstin, Claude Hayes, Gerald Arthur Ackermann, Carlo Padovani, Florence May Asher and L. Debroziere.  It’s always followed by mirrors and we have some large modern examples as well as period pieces.

SILVER AND PLATE is the same as last sale.

JEWELLERY is small but the section includes a rare and fine pair of Art Deco cufflinks in onyx, diamond and white gold by Lacloche. Watches, sovereigns and more.  Good stamps and postcards.

And the shelves are full as usual.

All lots are available with photographs on the catalogue from Sunday evening on our website, and you can bid online with UKAuctioneers, who also have an illustrated catalogue to view.

Viewing for this sale is on Wednesday the 31st July 2019 from 1-7pm and on sale day from 9.30am.
