And you will spend time with us because we have a GREAT sale on Thursday 26th September.  It’s a big sale too.   Where to start?
Late in August we received instructions to clear a large flat in South Kensington, the property of a Lady.  And whilst lots of the wonderful pictures, including Augustus Johns, went into the family, we are pleased to have been left the residue of the contents, including a fine 18th century Sevres dish, decorative bronze and glass ornaments, a wonderful group of seven 19th century trompe l’oeil paintings, a fine and large 19th century embroidery of a King Charles spaniel, a good quality leather and brass club fender, painted furniture including a bombe chest and a Regency chair, along with soft furnishings.  From a Northwood clearance we have a continental drug jar dated 1665 and good clocks.  In fact the sale has many clocks particularly mantel clocks in ormolu, gilt metal and wood, one incorporating a barometer.  There are two fusee wall clocks and a reproduction longcase clock with a good mahogany case.  Barometers include a good original Admiral Fitzroy in a carved case, a reproduction ship’s stick barometer and two old aneroid barometers on oak frames.
The PICTURE section is large, including the trompe l’oeil watercolours mentioned earlier and includes some good 18th and 19th century watercolours.  Artists include Henry C. Brewer, Graham Clarke, P. Bisson, M.I. Liddell, Hubert Robert, Karl Heinz Gross, Terence Cuneo, A. Specht, J. Chester, H. Livens, A. H. Livens, David Shepherd, Ulrica Forbes, Fred. Shaw, Sutton Palmer, Ethel Hughes, Josef Kugler, Rupert Shephard, Frank Herbert, W. Russell Flint, etc.  The MIRROR section that follows is also large and includes a pair of gilt girandoles each with two candle sconces, large overmantel mirrors, a large pair of reproduction gilt pier glasses with Prince of Wales feather surmounts and a phenomenal and large mahogany mirror carved with winged birds, dolphin, shell and swags.
The SILVER section makes up for the poor presence over the last two sales. We have a good section of silver and a small section of plate which includes an extensive set of good quality flatware in a canteen.  JEWELLERY and OBJECTS OF INTEREST are well represented.  We have a charming pinchbeck bracelet set with micro mosaics, a Chinese bracelet set with 6 jade panels and an Austro-Hungarian bracelet set with garnet framed enamel panels, an Art Nouveau and turquoise brooch, an Omega Seamaster watch, a carved ivory wolf head mounted as a ring, fob watches, tie pins and more including a fabulous painted silk fan signed Viteau in a lace frame with carved, pierced and inlaid mother of pearl sticks.  There is a large quantity of costume jewellery.  MEDALS includes a First World War military medal and group for Sergeant Henry James Eastment  No 44201 RGA 146 Heavy battery section  with accompanying letter from Major M G E Walker explaining his bravery under heavy shelling.  We also have medals from the Second World War for his relation Norman Eastmont, a colour sergeant in the Welsh Guards. Military items also include an 1856 British pattern Pioneer saw-back sword and scabbard, by Wilkinson, in wonderful condition and a little scary! We have a Hoyt recurve bow with arrows.
PORCELAIN. POTTERY AND GLASS fill the shelves to capacity. A fine Regency gilt metal and bronze table lamp and other Regency decorations.  A good pair of large gilt metal wall lights.  Good hanging lights.  Lladro collections, Nao and Royal Doulton figures everywhere and Limoges and Noritake tea wares.  An extensive Royal Albert ‘Old Country Rose’  tea service, Royal Doulton ‘Winthrop’, ‘Pastoral’, ‘English Renaissance’ table wares, Tuscan Ware, Dresden, Royal Adderley, Carlton Ware, T & G Green, Wedgwood ‘Florentine’ pattern tea wares, Mintons, Staffordshire, Paragon, Tuscan Ware, Denby, Botanic Garden, Jasperware, Spode ‘Billingsley Rose’ pattern wares, Enchanted Fairy figures and figures by Guiseppi Armarni, old Doulton pieces,19th century Spode armorial plates, 19th century Worcester plates – a set of three in wheel pattern, Clarice Cliff shakers, two Lalique plates, Satsuma and other oriental wares, Royal Doulton collector’s plates ‘Heroes Over Home Territory’.  There is a large quantity of cut and moulded glass including a pair of Victorian Bristol blue lustres and other old coloured glass. We have Swarovski crystals.
Other COLLECTABLES include a large entry of signed photographs: David Seaman, Charles Khan, Paul McKitney, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Bo Derek, Kim Catterall, Hugh Grant, George Clooney, George Best, Sarah Jessica Parker, Royalty and a good collection of Burton and Taylor memorabilia including a signed photograph. We have a Lawrence Dallaglio signed rugby ball.  Old petrol coupons, a carved horn pipe tamper, 1950s TinTin magazines, Cary’s English Atlas of Country Maps, 1793, leather bound. Old silhouettes.  A display of old cigarette cartons and match box fronts. OLD POSTERS includes Greatstone and Dungeness, by train of course. A violin and a mandolin.
Do you collect geological specimens?  We have hundreds of examples, some labelled I’m glad to say!
STAMPS and POSTCARDS abound and we have a large selection of coins including a part set of 2006 Royal commemorative crowns in a lacquered box, extensive UK proof sets and 8 folders of UK and Commonwealth coinage 18th century and on.
TOYS are mainly Hornby and Tri-ang railways, and there’s a lot.  Also Bako in blue boxes.  We also have a great quantity of Dinky military vehicles. Model cars by Maisto, Burago, Matchbox and Dinky.
BOOKS particularly on art and aeroplanes including Spitfires and bombers, Rolls Royce technical books. RECORDS. Good DOLLS. Lots of metalware including copper and brass with sets of old scales. Military gas masks for babies, FASHION including Burberry raincoats, old warehouse coats, tweed overcoats, a Guardsman’s military jacket, good skin handbags, vintage clothing, dresses including 1950s and 1960s.  Scent bottles. Four terracotta heads. ‘Little Joe’ bank.  Ivory chess pieces.  A 19th century cricket bat from an Eton match, early wood and aluminium skis. Old ship’s bell. Stuffed duck and kingfisher, Crown Devon Widdicombe Fair musical jug, old brass weights, old cameras, Gladstone bags, spirit kettles, an very old unopened tin of Willoughby Taylor pipe tobacco and boxes of old cigars, old Carl Zeiss binoculars, J H Jones flagons, an old glass dome, wooden objects including Gypsy caravans, writing slopes and decanter boxes, an aluminium dog figure by Frank Meisler. A shelf of mid-20th century telephones. A pair of lacquered vases.  Old tools.

FURNITURE is well represented and we have a large early 19th century mahogany dining table that seats 12, a 19th century leather-topped pedestal mahogany library table with six drawers, a 19th century Continental small bombe painted chest, a painted Regency armchair,  a five section Globe Wernicke bookcase, a large Victorian cabinet comprising 12 small cupboards, various display cabinets, a good 19th century mahogany pedestal circular dining table, the top veneered in 14 quadrants, a George lll mahogany military secretaire chest, a Mackintosh dining chair in oak, a 19th century mahogany Scotch chest, a chaise longue and other seat furniture, some with leather covers, a wirework garden 3 tier plant stand, a garden bench, yew furniture, pine dresser and other pine furniture and lots, lots more ..AND…
