An extensive PAINTINGS section including the original art work for the Wolseley Fifteen-Sixty, and by the same artist, cinema portraits incl Yul Brinner and Brigitte Bardot, oil paintings, watercolours and prints. SILVER, PLATE and METAL includes a Liberty Tudric pewter tea set . JEWELLERY including gold coins and a gold and diamond wrist watch. Good costume jewellery. PORCELAIN, POTTERY AND GLASS including Moorcroft, Doulton, Spode, Mintons, Alaska figurines, and more.
COLLECTABLES includes 49 programmes from the 1948 London Olympiad including football, swimming, athletics and boxing, plus the opening and closing ceremonies and the Souvenir programme. Football programmes, post and cigarette cards, film ephemera, theatre programmes, military items, stamps and coins, Hornby railways, Meccano, Bayko, old records including The Beatles, and The Stones. COSTUME AND ACCESSORIES is a small section but includes shoes by Prada, Dior and Valentino. There are good handbags and a small selection of furs including minks and a fox jacket. WINES, champagnes and spirits abound and I am waiting on final instructions on a bottle of the phenomenally rare (and sometimes selling in the thousands of pounds) Chateau Cheval Blanc, 1947, considered to be the most celebrated wine of the 20th century and a yardstick against which other Bordeaux are measured.
We have a superb Masonic gilt frame in a display case, ice cream advertising figures for Facchino cones, a Victorian musical doll and a rare calculator The Arithmometer by C & A Laytons of London. CURTAINS. ORIENTAL AND ENGLISH CARPETS. CLOCKS includes a large Victorian oak bracket clock with repeat mechanism, marble clocks, a large lantern clock and various long and short case clocks. FURNITURE includes two good chair sets, one Victorian set of 8 mahogany ladder backs, the other of 6 inlaid shield backs. A Gg III rosewood reading/sewing table, a charming Continental ladies desk with gilt metal embelishments, an old oak private letter box, a walnut centre table and good antique oak incl a pub settle, a fantastic hall seat/stand, refectory table, single chairs, a carved church pew, a carved figure of St Paul, and much more. Modern effects includes stacking beds, a bed settee, modern pine, retro and traditional furniture, etc.
