The Sheriff of Nottingham once lived in The Priory in Mansfield Woodhouse, a huge house with 15th century orgins. I was delighted to be asked to clear the current contents, mostly 18th and 19th century including a large bureau bookcase, an armoire, a lovely cheval mirror, chests on chests, oak settles and more, and a large collection of books. At the other end of the decorative scale we have cleared the Northwood penthouse of a retired model full of Italian furnishings including large floral still lifes and glamorous table lights. We have her beaded evening dresses and good handbags.

PICTURES include signed original cartoons by Leslie P Marchant, A T Smith, Beauchamp, and George Belcher, and works by Picasso, (with provenance), R Flint, G S Walters, F Deshayes, Albert Hartland, Walter Pearl, W Blanke, Alan Stuttle, Keith Butler, R Stenning, R Farnello, J Ford-Jones, J Cole, Frank G Wood, and John Campbell Mitchell, etc. SILVER AND PLATE is very well represented, including two Chinese export silver pierced bowls, a good Victorian mustard pot and a White Star Line plated bread basket by Elkington, and JEWELLERY is laden with gold and diamonds and watches.

SHELF ITEMS, including PORCELAIN, POTTERY AND GLASS, include a huge flower painted Meissen dinner service with tureens, Crown Derby, Copeland and Royal Albert Old Country Roses teawares, Moorcroft, Beswick, including a Dulux paint promotion with dog and Beatrix Potter figures. We have a lovely Sitzendorf mirror with candle sconces, Satsuma, a biscuit porcelain group, a large Celadon charger, a collection of paperweights, a Victorian green glass decanter and glasses,a large Victorian ironstone tureen and cover, etc.

COLLECTABLES include film related items including film stills and film set employment letters, an autograph book owned by a nippy with a drawing by W R Giles, lots of mounted prints, dolls, two cricket bats signed by the West Indies touring team 1966, portrait miniatures including one 17th century, possibly by Pierre Mignetard,  an ‘Educa’ stereoscopic viewer, an ivory cribbage board, Hornby tin plate model railway and, in great order, Hornby Dublo including a station and engines, all boxed, and the original layout. STAMPS, COINS, MEDALS, BADGES, POSTCARDS, FIRST DAY COVERS, CAMERAS including Siro Firenze.

FURNITURE also includes a sideboard and table by Gordon Russell, a John Broadwood grand piano, very good reproduction dining suites, two huge 19th century pine cupboards, a 1960s rosewood dining table and chairs, a stylish 1940s child’s metal and chrome high chair, desks. ORIENTAL CARPETS. BOOKS including six volumes of British Birds Their Eggs and Nests produced by Brumby and Clarke Ltd, antiquarian books and good bindings. RECORDS. CLOCKS include a 19th century fusee drop dial wall clock, a carriage clock and other clocks. Old GUNS AND SWORDS. Small old model beam engines.  GENERAL EFFECTS include painted furniture and Ercol, beds, mowers, fridges and cookers.  The room is crammed full!
