Fantastic news …… Police catch robber/thief/low-life
If you witnessed the gentleman being taken away in hand-cuffs during viewing for the last sale, he was innocent of all charges. However, he had given a lift the sale before to Mr N Birnie who (it is alleged!) nicked one of our lots, a Churchill signed letter. Mr Birnie, who starred in one of our CCTV clips, was duly visited and found to have the stolen item with him. Fair cop I’d say! Our congratulations to the police and PC Helen Lowe who pursued the case.
(In an ironic twist to the case, the Churchill letter was a fake so Mr Birnie, if the Judge finds him guilty, will have a criminal record for stealing a sheet of paper!).
