Bainbridge’s Latest Discovery!! Yet another vase discovered in a routine house clearance is the cause of mounting excitement for the March sale.  The 18.1″ glazed pottery vase is decorated with flowers and foliage in the Iznik style and is marked ‘L & Co’ in ink on the base.  Thinking possibly ‘Liberty & Co’, our cataloguer looked more closely, and noticed that the ‘L & Co’ mark was painted onto a layer of plaster which was starting to break up and come away from the base, Continue reading →

Reference 30th September auction. It’s early days and accounts for the 12th July sale are just going out, however space is filling up fast for our next auction.  We have a particularly good jewellery section with a fabulous sapphire and diamond ring, matching bracelet on white gold and a clover leaf brooch.  Another fine ring has a huge ruby flanked by D-shaped diamond shoulders.  It was bought at Garrards.  From another estate is a large jewellery entry. Fantastic news …… Police catch robber/thief/low-life If you witnessed the gentleman being taken away in hand-cuffs during viewing for the last sale, he was innocent of all charges.  However, he had given a lift the sale before to Mr N Birnie who (it is alleged!) nicked one of our lots, a Churchill signed letter.  Mr Birnie, who starred in one of our CCTV clips, was duly visited and found to have the stolen item with him.
